TRANSFORMATION BY THE ANOINTING | PASTOR GODMAN AKINLABI | GRAND FINALE | ACCELERATE 2026

Jun 7, 2026 · Pastor Godman Akinlabi

Summary

The anointing of the Holy Spirit empowers us for transformation, reminding us that we are not left to struggle alone in our journey of faith. As we prepare our hearts to receive God's word, we are invited to experience His grace, which is not just symbolic but profoundly real. Just as Saul was transformed when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, we too can be retooled for the next level of our calling, moving from limitation to empowerment. Today’s message is a gentle reminder that God does not leave us to struggle alone. He invites us to prepare our hearts, to “allow the word of God to find a resting place,” and to receive His help through the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The oil may be symbolic, but the grace is real. God anoints for purpose, for seasons, and for empowerment, so we do not “run all by yourself.” Consider Saul. He did not see himself as a king; he measured himself by smallness and limitation. Yet God’s answer was not shame, and not pressure, but transformation. When the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, he was “turned into another man,” and “God gave him another heart.” The anointing does not merely decorate your life, it retools you for the next level, so mountains become plains and old patterns lose their grip. “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you… and be turned into another man” (1 Samuel 10:6). “God gave him another heart” (1 Samuel 10:9). All of this points us to Jesus, the One who does not just demand change from us, but brings God’s Spirit near to us. In Him, transformation is not a lonely climb, it is grace at work, lifting burdens, breaking yokes, and rewriting identity so we can walk forward with God. Reflect on the five places the anointing wants to touch: your thoughts, your words, your vision, your self-image, and your actions. Where have you been stuck in negativity, grasshopper thinking, or familiar habits? There is “a newer version” of you in God, and He is able to help you see differently, speak differently, and take straighter steps. Take a quiet moment today. Place your heart before the Lord and simply whisper, “God is with me.” Ask Him to let His word settle deep, and to let His Spirit bring the update you cannot produce by willpower alone. Stay open, and let grace do its gentle, powerful work.

This week

  • In prayer today, surrender these five areas to God: your thoughts, words, vision, self-image, and actions, and ask for the Spirit’s transforming help.
  • Choose one negative confession you have been repeating, and replace it all day with a faith-filled statement aligned with “God is with me.”
  • Re-listen to one message or word that resonated with you from this season, and write down one specific action God is prompting you to take this week.
